Let There Be Light

Today the electricity was hooked up. It made me so nervous, but it was very interesting. The picture on the far left is my brother-in-law (L) and my husband (R). I'm not sure what they are doing, but they did something again after the Oncore repairman took the meter out (middle photo).
Far right is the security light shining on the building.
I am beside myself with joy, because this was a huge achievement.
We have to fill the holes and paint the last quarter of the floor, joint compound and paint all the windows, and start arranging the rest of the stuff on the shelves. Oh, Doug has to finish painting the Workroom out side.

Sun Is Shining-On To The Outside

Hard to believe the rain has stopped and we have SUN. We have painted the front porch with 3 coats of porch paint (terra cotta) and painted the inside floor pale blue floor paint. On the inside floor we have only 1/4th left to paint. Before we pain that, I have to fill the nail holes and cracks with wood filler. Doug has been very busy painting the front and part of the east side. It is a must we find a door for the little room on the porch (kiln room). I want to get that kiln in that room-it is a small kiln, but is taking up space in the front room of the house. Robert, the electrition, is coming Wed. That is VERY EXCITING.

1/4th Down-3/4 To Go

I can not believe it, but we are on schedule. I finished painting the two boards for the right back wall. The picture showes the quarter of the floor Doug put the second coat on today. We have to wait till Wed. till it cures. Then he starts on the next quarter. Monday and Tuesday we are going to put more stuff from the house into the workroom.

Productive Day

Aren't I adorable! LOL
I am totally exhausted. I bent over and filled all the cracks with wood puddy so Doug can paint tomorrw. It was a back breaking job-thank goodness for my garden cart. I used the garden cart to lay saltio tiles in my house-I have bad knees, so this works great. The picture on the right is showing what we have done so far. I have the other side of the boards on the sawhorses to paint with two coat-will do tomorrow. My oldest son said he would come over next week and help us take stuff from the house to the workroom. YEA!!
I use to just do what I wanted to do in the workroom-not any more. I set goals-I amost did not make todays goal. The next sunny day at 50 or above after tomorrow is Sunday. I am going to put the second coat of joint compound on the window to the left. We are painting a quarter of the floor at a time. I pick out pale blue like the walls. I have got to tell you it is a HAPPY room with the blue. I don't think I would want the pale blue in the house, but it is great in the workroom-unexpected.
Take care,

Brain Fart

Today was beautiful-50 degrees-time to paint shelves. I had it all planned out: we went to McCoys and got the rest of the brackets last week and we were ready to go. That's when it happened, the brain fart. I bought the wrong amount of things that screw into the wall that you put the brackets on and they were the wrong color. Tonight, I learned it was going to rain at the end of the week-can't work in the rain, so there is a change in plans. Tomorrow we are going to try and paint the remaining boards-that is two coats on six sides. I also have to write instruction for 100 kits I am putting together for my miniature club tomorrow. Then Wed., when it is only cloudy, we will go to Staples to get copies of the instructions made and then go to Belton to McCoys to get the brackets. I wrote what I need down on paper so I don't have that brain fart thing going on again. Thursday, I go to North Austin to my miniature club. Busy, busy week.
Take care,
Kate

Baby-It's Cold Out Side

Well, I have been waiting for a long time for the temp to get 50 or above. Right now it is 52 outside and sunny-so out to the workroom I skampered and openned all the windows, got the paint out and started painting the shelves. Good grief, it is cold. I needed some work gloves, cause my fingers were COLD. I am going back out in an hour to put the second coat on the boards. Tomorrow it is suppose to be over 50 degrees and sunny-so I will paint the other side of the two boards. After the boards dry, I hope to take some stuff from inside the house and put it on the shelves. While working in the workroom, I could not believe how happy and light it is in there.
